Del Rey is gearing up for its annual community celebration, Del Rey Day, with this year’s theme, “Team Del Rey,” inspired by the Olympic spirit of camaraderie and competition. Mark your calendars for Sunday, October 27, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM at Bill Rosendahl Park, located at 4601 Alla Rd.


Del Rey 2024 is a free event open to all attendees, promising an Olympian scale of excitement and activities designed to foster community spirit and showcase the unique diversity of our neighborhood. “Our event is a microcosm of the Olympic ideals—bringing together people from all walks of life to celebrate unity through diversity,” says Jillian Hegedus, Outreach Officer for the Del Rey Neighborhood Council.

This year’s celebration will feature an array of attractions designed to engage and delight attendees of all ages:


  • The Del Rey Jazz Band will be there all day along with other performances!

  • Creative Shirt Tie-Dye Station: Featuring t-shirts designed by Marina Del Rey Middle School 8th grader, Ethan Sotelo.

  • Dog Halloween Costume Contest: Watch our furry friends strut their stuff in adorable costumes.

  • Spelling Bee: Test your spelling skills or cheer on participants in this fun and educational competition.

  • Free Food: Enjoy delicious offerings from local vendors, celebrating the rich culinary heritage of Del Rey and supporting our local businesses.

“Each year, we strive to bring the community together, not just to celebrate but to educate and share the rich tapestry that makes our neighborhood a fantastic place to live,” Hegedus adds. “Incorporating local schools and teaching the values represented by the Olympics—competition, unity, and respect—are core to our mission. This year we’re all on Team Del Rey!”

Our Del Rey Day logo this year proudly features eight rings, echoing the iconic imagery of the Olympics. Each ring symbolizes one of our uniquely diverse areas, celebrating their distinct vibes and characteristics.


Deeply rooted in local history while branching out into an urban environment, Del Rey continues to flourish as a unique and integral part of the greater Los Angeles area. There is a growing sense of community pride and identity in Del Rey.
